Stephen Schear is a Mountain View, Wyoming native whose career in the energy industry is the definition of working your way up. He got his start as a roughneck in the Wyoming oil patch in 2003, learning the fundamentals of oilfield operations from the ground up before joining Ensign Energy Services, where he spent over six years progressing from rig hand to driller to directional driller, working across Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, and California. That foundation set the trajectory for everything that followed. Stephen joined Weatherford in 2012 as a Directional Driller and over eight years climbed through directional coordinator, operations manager, and technical sales roles in the Midland-Odessa area, developing a rare combination of hands-on technical knowledge and business acumen that few professionals can match. He then moved to Tomax AS, where he has served in operations supervision, technical sales, and now business development, helping operators and service companies find better drilling solutions. Throughout his career, Stephen has also invested in mentoring and coaching the next generation of drilling professionals, a commitment that shows up just as clearly in his role as PBADD's Events Director, where he brings the same energy and attention to detail to creating events that bring the Permian Basin directional drilling community together. He calls Midland, Texas home.
